3D numerical solutions inside the pyramid of textured silicon solar cells

This paper presents a fully-coupled 3D drift-diffusion simulation for the volume within pyramids of textured surface on silicon wafer to compute parameters needed solar-cell modeling. First, diffusion process is numerically simulated, resulting in nonuniform dopant concentration that higher at pyramid's peak and ridges. Results are presented quasi-Fermi potential, recombination, hole current as function forward bias; lateral flow diffused layer; photogeneration profiles account double-bounce polarized reflection from pyramid facets. Some surprising results include bulbous protrusion space-charge region below majority-current crowding near center pyramidal volume. The software used, PC3S, open-source freely available personal computers running Microsoft Excel (Mac or Windows).
